Karl Albertyn Is On The F-Team
It's a big welcome to the F-Team to Karl Albertyn who trains alongside fellow Funky Trunks F-Teamer and Australia's fastest 200m freestyler Max Giuliani under Paul Crosswell at the Miami Swimming Club.
Sport runs in Karl’s veins with his mother a former national sprinter, father an international rugby union player and national swimmer, and his siblings both national swimmers. Karl competed for Australia at the World Junior Championships in 2023 and won 3 medals including 2 golds in the 200m and 400m IM at the 2024 Australian Age Championships.

He aspires to debut on a senior Australian team this year aiming for selection on the 2024 World Short Course Championships to be held in Budapest, with his big goal to make the Los Angeles Olympics in 4 years time.
Karl was awarded a scholarship by Griffith University and Swimming Australia to support his studies in Sports Development and Business.
We asked Karl four quick questions to get to know him a bit better:
FT: What motivates you to pursue your goals?
KA: I've always tried my best to be the greatest version of myself since a young kid. Also having an older brother instilled a passion for competition in me from an early age and being the best there is, is what keeps me going.
FT: Do you have any pre-race rituals that you swear by?
KA: I love to just chill and listen to my music. I take off my jacket, pants and shoes in the same way every time as well.
FT: What meal do you love, but can't tell Paul Crosswell you indulge in every now and then?
KA: I have a gyg burrito bowl at least 4 times a week.
FT: If you could compete anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
KA: I would love to race in the Budapest pool. It looks amazing and a great city to be in.
We are pumped to have Karl on the F-Team and hope he gets to see the Budapest pool later this year if the Australian Team for World Short Course Championships!
