New Funkette Laura Ilyés
Hungarian swimmer Laura Ilyés has joined the Funkita F-Team! Laura trains at the Budapesti Vasutas Sport Club under her coach Zsolt Plagányi. Laura swims 200m butterfly and at this year’s National Championships she finished 4th with a time of 2:11.54.
Laura is studying medicine at Semmelweis University which has presented her with the challenge of juggling both full-time swimming and a full courseload. However now she is taking a year away from her studies to focus purely on her swimming and the goal to qualify for the World Short Course Championships this year and World Championships next year.
We asked Laura five questions to get to know her more:
FK: What are your pre-race rituals?
LI: The day before important competitions, I write a note on my phone about the times when I need to do certain things (for example: getting on the race suit, going in the last call room).
FK: What is your favourite meal?
LI: My superpower is that I can basically eat infinite slices of Tiramisu.
FK: What is your dream competition location?
LI: I've never been to Australia, so I would love to compete there. Also, I love swimming at the venue Duna Arena in Budapest, because the atmosphere is amazing.
FK: What are your other interests?
LI: I'm almost halfway to being a medical doctor at Semmelweis University
FK: What are your career aspirations?
LI: I am interested in becoming a psychiatrist doctor.
