New Aussie Team Selections
The Olympic hangover is well and truly over with the Australian Short Course Championships taking place in Adelaide last weekend. The event acted as selection trials for the Short Course World Championships to be held in Budapest in December.
We are excited to support young Aussie swimmers that are pushing for selection on Australian teams, so it proved to be a huge meet for Tiana Kritzinger and Bella Grant who both qualified for their first senior Australian team, alongside our backstroke star, Olympian Iona Anderson.
We had a quick catch up with the athletes after the meet to get an insight into their performance.

"I got selected for my first Australian Senior Team heading to the World Short Course championships in Budapest in December. I was tapered leading into the meet. I felt pretty good as I had a great training block. One of my goals was to make the team but my overall goal was to have fun and see what I can do as the selection for the team was different as it is a smaller team they are taking."
Iona Anderson

Event: 100m backstroke
Time: 00:55.79
Place: 2
Event: 200m backstroke

"I was very pleased with my time as it was the first time I have swum under the 56-second barrier. I haven't had many opportunities these past few years to be able to throw down a solid 100 backstroke performance so to finally have the opportunity this year was very exciting. I was also very happy and pleasantly surprised with my 200 backstroke performance."
Bella Grant

Event: 100m butterfly

Event: 200m butterfly

Breaststrokers Mikayla Smith (200m breaststroke) and Sienna Toohey (50m breaststroke) were third and second respectively. Taylor Corry had a huge meet claiming 4 gold and 3 silver in her events with a PB in the 200IM.
We can’t wait to see Iona, Bella and Tiana when they race in Budapest in December for Australia.
