Honey’s On The Team!

We are so excited to have British Olympian Honey Osrin back on the F-Team! Honey’s focus and dedication in the lead up to 2024, culminated in selection on TeamGB for the Paris 2024 Games. It was an incredible experience for Honey with the rollercoaster of contracting COVID on arrival in the Village, to her finals berth in the 200m Backstroke. We caught up with Honey after a well-deserved break from the pool.

FK: How was your Olympic experience in and out of the pool?
HO: It is hard to put into words my experience of walking out into the Olympic arena. It’s a feeling I will never forget. Walking out on a stage like that was an incredible and emotional experience. I’ve always explained the Olympic Village like you were stepping into a different world itself. It was incredible to be surrounded by such amazing athletes.

FK: What did you learn from Paris that will help you leading into LA 2028?
HO: My biggest take away from the Olympics is learning to deal with setbacks. The start of my Olympic journey in the village did not go as planned and I ended up getting COVID. I was put into isolation for 5 days and it was a major mental test to whether I would let me getting sick right before my race have an impact on me. My second lesson I’ve taken away from the Games is controlling my emotions. It can be emotionally draining to go from such highs and then keep a level head in order to prepare yourself for your next race.

FK: Are you enjoying being back in the water after some time off?
HO: I did love having some down time but towards the end of my break I was eager to get back into the pool and start training again. The Olympic team was my first GB senior team and I loved racing on a big international stage. Worlds in August next year has always been my next major goal and so it’s come easy for me to want to get back into the water in order for me to start really pushing things by the time January comes.

FK: Will you continue to focus on the 200m Backstroke?
HO: The 200 backstroke will definitely still be my main focus, however I have set myself a goal of breaking the sub-60 mark in my 100 back in order to hopefully eventually be in the mix for relay considerations as well as to help develop my front end of my 200. Another goal of mine is to work on my 200 free as a bit of fun and versatility and see what times I can put down.

FK: What are your target meets for the remainder of 2024 and into 2025?
HO: I have no major meets I’m targeting for the rest of 2024, however I will 100% be aiming to make the 2025 Worlds team with trials in April.

We are looking forward to seeing Honey back in action in 2025 after her amzing results in 2024, when she’ll be back recharged and ready to go again!
